Of course, men and women are equal.
But that’s not to say they’re the same – especially when it comes to renovating.
Renovators who have been in the business for years know these things. They will tell you women and men see things differently, sometimes vastly so. They say women are more interested in light and space and function within a home. Men are more focused on relaxation time.
Here’s what they say women want in a renovation:
- Open concept kitchens
- The latest in appliances
- Great organization
- Walk in closets
- Heated floors
- Mud rooms.
And here’s what they say men want:
- Workshops or theatre areas (with lots of gadgets and remote controls)
- Exercise areas
- Garden sheds
- Getaway rooms, ideally with pool table and hot tub
- Great garages with shiny floors
- Walk-in showers
So how do you get everything in a renovation, make both genders happy, and possibly save a marriage?
Renovators stay out of that conversation. They just want you to give them your wish list (male and female), and they’ll walk you through it from there. They’ll guide you to the right decisions depending on things like budget, space, design and structure.
Remember to hire a professional, though, so you don’t have to worry about adding uncertainty to the mix. If you see the RenoMark® logo in this directory of RenoMark® renovators in the Ottawa area, you’ll know you’ve found someone to trust.
